History of ALSA LC UB
Starting from the strong friendship of the Founding Mothers (Dani, Deshika, Desy, Nani, Kiki, Elwiq, and Ati), if there had been no twists, turns, and small debates during the early stages of forming ALSA, ALSA might not exist at Universitas Brawijaya today.

In 1993, ALSA had not yet been established at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Brawijaya (FH UB). During the new student orientation period, various intra-campus societies were vying for the attention of potential new members. However, ALSA (under no official name at that time) had not yet emerged. It wasn't until the second or third semester that ALSA began to be discussed, with the help of the senior students who were Founding Mothers. They played a crucial role in introducing ALSA and even facilitated more serious meetings. The attendees included Founding Mothers from every Local Chapter in Indonesia, who were united by their enthusiasm for meeting one another and exploring what ALSA was, who they were, and how it could grow.

The Founding Mothers pioneered ALSA with love and affection, prioritizing a sense of family. They were constantly thinking of ways to make ALSA more widely known, always trying to be present when invited. Even when ALSA Indonesia needed a place to exchange ideas, the Founding Mothers would always make an effort to accommodate the agenda and do their best. One day, Dani and Desy, as representatives of the Founding Mothers, had the opportunity to attend a forum organized by ALSA Philippines in Manila. If I'm not mistaken, they even met the Prime Minister of the Philippines at that time. While preparing papers and paperwork for the event, it can be said that the Founding Mothers also worked together to navigate the campus bureaucracy and fulfill the conference's requirements.

The Founding Mothers did not receive any financial subsidies because they were determined to make ALSA a place for growth. Despite the rectorate’s doubts, they were eventually invited to meet with the Assistant Rector to ensure that ALSA’s existence aligned with the vision and mission of the academic community. This was particularly significant during the New Order era, a time when student organizations faced significant scrutiny.

The Founding Mothers also had the opportunity to invite Satjipto Rahardjo, a professor from Diponegoro University, to give a public lecture at Universitas Brawijaya. This was suggested by Brenda, one of the ALSA members. However, by the end of the event, there was a boycott by the student senate, as if they had organized the event themselves.

Despite the harassment from senate members and others in different organizations, the Founding Mothers never allowed these challenges to stop them from pushing ALSA forward. Even with all the doubts, mistrust, and questions, the Founding Mothers did not give up on ensuring ALSA’s existence.

The Process of Growing
ALSA LC UB
The development of ALSA at Universitas Brawijaya has gone through a lengthy process, starting from its establishment in the Rector's Regulation in 1994 until now, in 2021, when ALSA LC UB has reached the age of 27 years. Initially, ALSA LC UB had only seven members, known as the Founding Mothers, each playing a role in elevating the name of ALSA LC UB. Today, ALSA LC UB has 96 Local Board members actively managing the organization, along with hundreds of alumni and active members.
ALSA LC UB has also frequently experienced changes in the structure of its Local Board management. Currently, in the 2022/2023 management period, the structure consists of a Director, two Secretaries, and a Treasurer who directly oversees the Finance Division. There is also a Vice Director of Internal Affairs who supervises the Organizational Development Division, Membership, and Alumni Division and Domestic Affairs Division. Additionally, there is a Vice Director on Academic Development with two divisions under their supervision: the Legal Development Division and the English Development Division. Lastly, there is a Vice Director of External Affairs who oversees the Foreign Affairs Division and the ICT Division.
Of course, before reaching the current structure of the Local Board, there have been several changes in both the arrangement of divisions and the names of each division. For instance, in 2012, the Internal Affairs division oversaw four divisions: Internal Department, Law, Funding, and Human Resources, while in 2016, Internal Affairs managed two divisions: Internal and Membership Archiving. Although there have been name changes, such as Membership Archiving becoming the Membership and Alumni Division and Internal Department becoming the Domestic Affairs Division, the core tasks and functions of these divisions have not changed significantly, and their primary goal remains to develop ALSA LC UB. Despite the lengthy process and the dynamic changes, ALSA LC UB has loyal members with a strong commitment to managing and developing work programs within ALSA LC UB while continuously ensuring that members remain active. Ultimately, over time, ALSA LC UB has become a progressive organization.
The work programs for each management period have also continued to evolve. For example, in 2009, ALSA LC UB had approximately 70 work programs, primarily dominated by events such as seminars and bonding activities. By 2012, the work programs continued to be dominated by seminars and bonding events, which involved gatherings between internal members and alumni, as well as strengthening the Funding Division in preparation to host the National Moot Court Competition (NMCC) in 2013.
The evolution did not stop there; in subsequent management periods, the model of work programs continued to develop, with several additions to the Signature Programs. For instance, in 2016, the ALSA Symposium was held for the first time, followed by ALSA International Visits to Malaysia and Singapore and ALSA Cerdas Cermat, also known as Ranking 1. In 2018, the work program model became more diverse with a broader scope. That year, ALSA LC UB had the opportunity to host a national event, the National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas), along with ALSA ALTCR, Silver Anniversary, ALSA Skripsi 101, Legal Opinion Competition, and for the first time, the ALSA English Contest was held. Several work programs from previous years, such as the ALSA Symposium and ALSA English Contest, are still frequently implemented in the current management period.
